2018 Best of the Super Juniors: Block B scenarios

June 2, 2018
By: Lou Pickney

For the Block A scenarios, click here.

Compared with the possibilities in Block A, Block B is much less complicated going into the last night of the round-robin. Hiromu Takahashi, KUSHIDA, and Marty Scurll are tied at the top with eight points, but Scurll lost to both Hiromu and KUSHIDA so he is at a disadvantage.

KUSHIDA (8) vs. Hiromu Takahashi (8)
SHO (4) vs. Marty Scurll (8)
Dragon Lee (6) vs. El Desperado (4)
Ryusuke Taguchi (4) vs. Chris Sabin (6)

It would really surprise me if Hiromu vs. KUSHIDA isn't the main event for the 6/3 show.

Block B scenarios

Hiromu advances with a win over KUSHIDA.

KUSHIDA advances with a win over Hiromu.

Scurll advances with a win over SHO *and* a draw in the Hiromu/KUSHIDA match, like how Hirooki Goto won his block in the 2016 G1 when Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada went to a time-limit draw.

If Scurll loses/draws and Hiromu vs. KUSHIDA ends in a draw, there would be no clear Block B winner. New Japan can't be arsed to provide tiebreaker info, but the solution is that Gedo simply won't book it that way.

The 2018 Best of the Super Juniors Final takes place on June 4 in Tokyo at Korakuen Hall.
